Introduction The popularity of electric vehicles is growing globally, and more and more people are opting for electric vehicles. Although EVs have grown in popularity they are still a long way to go before they can completely capture the automobile market. There is no doubt as far as the potential of an electric vehicle is concerned but there are certain challenges as well. The electric vehicle industry is consistently pushing towards widespread adoption and it has been able to achieve significant success as well despite prevailing challenges. In this blog we are going to discuss some of the factors that affect widespread adoption, they include both factors that push widespread adoption as well as those factors which are a hurdle in widespread adoption. Meaning Of Widespread Adoption Widespread adoption simply means electric cars becoming a major player in the automotive industry. Another way of the understanding meaning of widespread adoption is when electric vehicles become a prominent vehicle choice for consumers. Factors Affecting Adoption 1. Awareness: Public awareness regarding various benefits of Electric vehicles is one of the factors that truly affect the widespread adoption of an electric vehicle, it has been seen in countries where awareness is more adopted or the popularity of electric vehicles is more as well. 2. Range Of Vehicles: It is one of the important factors because long trips are a little tricky with electric vehicles. Electric-vehicle-battery suppliers have been asking manufacturers to make batteries which are more powerful as they are the ones who constantly face customers who keep demanding the same. 3. Speed Of Charging: If battery manufacturers can somehow make batteries which take less time in charging or fast chargers that are easily available with widespread charging infrastructure then it positively affects the adoption. Electric-vehicle-battery suppliers also need to make sure that their supply chain is maintained well. 4. Price Of Vehicle: Right now price of an electric vehicle is higher than fuel-driven or gasoline-driven vehicles, it is another factor that affects adoption. Affordable lithium-ion batteries and their availability through a network of affordable lithium-ion battery suppliers can be a solution to this. 5. Government Incentives: For full-scale adoption of electric vehicles government incentives are very much required without that it is not possible. And not just creating but extending those incentives is equally important. Battery manufacturers need incentives so that they can manufacture affordable lithium-ion batteries and a network of affordable lithium-ion battery suppliers can be created so that they are easily available to manufacturers as well as consumers. 6. Infrastructure: As electric vehicles run on batteries and charging infrastructure is extremely important, as electric vehicles can run up to 150 o 200 miles when fully charged so there is a need for electric outlets where they can be charged again. 7. Green Energy: Electric vehicles should be manufactured in such a way that they should increasingly benefit the earth. 8. Grid Development: New grids should be developed keeping the electric vehicle in mind and the goal should be clean and green energy production which would not only reduce the price of EVs but would further reduce carbon emission. 9. Gas Prices: Increase in gas prices as they have historically been a big factor as far as the adoption of electric vehicles is concerned. 10. Global Economy: It is one of the important factors that affect the adoption of EVs and there are many ways through which it can affect it. These are a few factors that affect the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and in future too they will decide how far this adoption goes.
